BLUE ORIGIN ELEVATOR TOWER, TX

2022

In the past several decades, we have seen the privatization of space flight.  Blue Origin is one of the major players in private space flight.  For their launch facilities in TX, an elevator system to bring astronauts and equipment up to the launch pad was desired.  The Tower Engineer provided structural design for the elevator tower and connecting bridge.

SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT TOWER, FL

2022

As one of the most hurricane prone regions in the nation, South Florida presents several design challenges.  For this project SFWMD required 235 mph design wind speeds.  The Tower Engineer provided structural design for a 235' and 300' truss leg tower.

RECENT PROJECTS

Here is what we have been up to...

534'GT.png

534' BROADCAST TOWER

April 2021

Broadcast towers utilize special antennas to reach their intended audiences.  These antennas typically have large factored areas (CaAa) that create significant loading on a tower.  These antennas also typically have high mounting elevations to optimize their broadcast characteristics.  Projects like these present signifigant structural forces and require special consideration.  The Tower Engineer

4-LEG PLATFORM TOWER

January 2021

This 4 leg tower in Virginia holds a platform perched high above the surroundings.  Giving equipment clear line of sight and workers easy access.

LOUISIANA 260' GUYED TOWER

December 2020

This 260' Guyed Tower for Union Pacific Railroad utilized laterally loaded concrete piles for the guy anchors.  Piles were analyzed using the latest L-pile software from Ensoft to accurately design the concrete pier, reinforcement, and to predict deflections in the case of a major wind event.

PITTSBURG COUNTY, OKLAHOMA TOWERS

December 2020

The Tower Engineer teamed with a manufacturer in Texas to bring these towers online.  This project involved the design of four 160' self support towers in Oklahoma.

5G Tower Retrofit.jpg

5G TOWER UPGRADE ANALYSIS AND RETROFIT

May 2020

Tower owners often require carriers to perform structural analysis on their towers if the carrier plans to add or replace equipment.  What do you do if multiple carriers are adding equipment at the same time, like in a 5G buildout?  Four separate analysis won't do.  The Tower Engineer can provide one comprehensive analysis incorporating all carrier modifications simultaneously.

NORTH CAROLINA ICE SHIELDS

March 2020

As ice melts and sluffs off dishes or other tower equipment, chunks of ice can fall hundreds of feet.  These huge ice bombs can destroy expensive and critical equipment below.  The Tower Engineer is here to assist in the design of ice shields to protect your critical equipment.

UP TOWERS

February 2020

We have been proud to design towers for the Union Pacific Railroad as they expand their train control technology.  This work has been made possible through our strategic partnerships with tower manufacturers.

TOWER FOUNDATIONS

January 2020

We have been designing foundations for one of the nation's premier tower manufacturers.

GROUNDING PLANS

November 2019

What are the chances of lightning striking the same place twice?  Well, with towers you can almost count on it.  Because of this, tower grounding is critical.  The Tower Engineer has been hard at work creating grounding plans in Colorado following the Motorola "Standards and Guidelines for Communication Sites" know as the R56 Standard.

STX TOWER EXPANSION

August 2019

As SM Energy wanted to upgrade and expand automation equipment in this oil field, existing towers were analyzed and new towers designed to provide the necessary tower structures for the project needs.  The Tower Engineer performed structural analysis for the project.

GALVAN TOWER

August 2019

This is another tower that is part of the STX tower expansion.  The Tower Engineer performed structural analysis for this project.

WINKLER TOWER

August 2019

This fun tower is under way to provide oil field automation.  When complete it will be a 100' self support tower.  The Tower Engineer provided structural engineering for the project.

OLIN COASTAL TOWER, TX

January, 2019

With Hurricane Harvey touching down in 2017, designing a telecommunications tower on the coast is not something to trifle with.  The Tower Engineer worked closely with the construction contractor Steele-Tower LLC and the automation contractor Texas Automation Systems to ensure the clients needs were met.  The client for this project demanded a tower that could withstand high coastal winds.  Exceeding code requirements, The Tower Engineer delivered a design to withstand the expected extreme forces of nature.

CONOCO PHILLIPS TOWERS, TX AND NM

Summer, 2018 - Spring 2019

Conoco Phillips utilizes numerous towers throughout Texas and New Mexico to provide automation for their oil and gas operations.  The Tower Engineer teamed with contractor BHI to inventory and provide structural analysis for 24 towers.  The Tower Engineer continues to provide structural analysis for these towers as the equipment is modified.

190' CHEYENNE TOWER

Summer 2017

The Tower Engineer provided structural engineering for the tower manufacturer Worldwide Communications and for the contractor.

NON-PENETRATING MURPHY OIL TOWER

Ongoing

Often lease requirements prohibit a penetrating foundation.  These surface towers provide a great solution for those requirements.  On this site, however, collapsible clays were just a couple feet below the surface.  This surface foundation allowed the use of the existing soil improvements to effectively "bridge" over the collapsible clays.

SHELL OIL TELESCOPIC MAST

September 2016

These telescopic masts posed a significant challenge as the typical onsite trailers didn't have extra strength to accept such a tall mast.  The Tower Engineer provided a unique solution that helped develop the large forces down into the trailer frame.  3D drawings were provided.
